Off the Couch

By: Theresa Pitner | August 17, 2019

Try out this exercise: sit on the couch.

The second the dog jumps up next to you. Say “OFF” and point to the ground. Wait 2-3 seconds if the dog is not off the couch – repeat. If the dog needs the command more than 3-4 x that means he is not listening. So if the desire behavior does not happen after 3x- stand up and face toward the dog and point to the ground. You might have to scuff or grab collar to remind him what needs to be done.

Important to remember is consistency and you can invite the dog to come sit next to you. But the dog needs get off the couch when told.
